NEWSLETTER JULY 2020
Welcome
Hello everyone, and welcome to the July newsletter. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, July’s meeting has also had to be cancelled. All our monthly meetings and trips will be cancelled until the Government lift all restrictions. Hopefully, this will not take too long, and we send our best wishes to all members, family and friends to stay safe and well in this difficult time.
November Meeting
An early reminder for everyone. The meeting in November has had the date changed because the stadium needs both of the suites for events on the day of our meeting. The new date is Wednesday 17th November. Please mark it on your calendars or diaries.
Turkey and Tinsel Break
Due to the cancellation of our spring break to Blackpool, the hotel have offered us an alternative date of Dec 18th to 21st for the same price of £99 thus becoming a Turkey & Tinsel weekend. Your payments have been transferred to this holiday.
Summer Holiday 2021
11th June 2021
We have now booked 21 people onto our 2021 holiday to Lakeside Holiday Village, Hampshire. We are disappointed with the low numbers but recognise the possible anxieties re Covid – 19 could be holding people back from committing. We would assure everyone that this venue is covered by free Covid – 19 insurance protection, and that Anthony’s Travel are taking all necessary precautions re travel arrangements. If anyone wishes to see if there are any available spaces nearer to June 2021, if you contact Dianne Ryder on 01928 573801, she will be happy to make enquiries for you.
Any cheques for holidays to Barry, could you please ensure that the PAYEE is clearly marked as

Hand Sanitiser
PLEASE, PLEASE take a look at the advice below as I know many people like myself have or have had hand sanitiser in their cars and possibly on window sills at home. I know I had some in my car until I saw this. Please take care and be safe.
iCAN Warning: Clarification on alcohol-based hand sanitiser – vehicle fires
It has subsequently come to light today, after our initial message, that the guidance document Halton Trading Standards was referencing has subsequently been withdrawn. To clarify the current advice on alcohol based hand sanitiser, they will not combust if left in a car – even on the hottest day. For hand sanitiser to cause a fire it would need to come into contact with a spark.
We advise residents to ensure they store their hand sanitisers in vehicles safely, which includes keeping bottles closed and out of direct sunlight. This will ensure the contents do not deteriorate.
If you or somebody you know has been caught out by a scam or fraud please contact one of our specialist officers, Linda or Sue on 0151 511 8785 or 0151 511 8775, who are already working with people in Halton who have lost thousands of pounds to scams.
If you need advice on anything else, please contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 0808 223 1133
Take care and STAY SAFE everyone.
