NEWSLETTER APRIL 2019
Welcome
Hello everyone, and welcome to our April meeting. Tonight is quiz night, so get your thinking caps on, and put your phones away! No trophy for the winners this time, but held in the stocks and pelted with rotten tomatoes for the last placed team! Also tonight, I would like to welcome Sue Molyneux from Halton Disability Partnership, who is going to give us a short presentation of what they can do for us, with regards to benefit claims, form filling and employing a personal assistant, as well as a host of other free services. Please give her your full attention.
AGM
Many thanks to all our members who attended and participated in our AGM. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to attract anyone to fill the 2 vacant positions on the Committee, but hopefully someones conscience will prick them, and they will realise that we rely on volunteers to keep the club functioning, and that maybe they would like to give something back to the club. I hope you all enjoyed the delicious buffet afterwards.
Spring Break
A group of us went to Llandudno last month for a long weekend break celebrating St Patricks Day. As ever, the hotel was very comfortable and warm, unlike the atrocious weather we experienced on the Saturday. The Sunday turned out to be significantly better, allowing us to explore the town, and spend lots of money. The evening entertainment was very good, especially on the Friday night. In fact, we have booked him to come and sing for us next month. You’re all in for a treat!
Summer Holiday
Just a reminder that the holiday must be paid in full at the next meeting. Please remember to bring your payment cards with you though, so you have a record of what you have paid.
Day Trips
After the weakly supported, proposed trip to Boundary Mill was cancelled, the first trip of the year is on THURSDAY 25th April to Cleveleys and Fleetwood. The coach leaves the Red Admiral at 09.15. nd the stadium at 9.30, the cost being £10 a head. Please give your names to Dianne with your payment.
Mayors Charity
The race night which some of you sponsored horses for was held last month, and it was a great night. The club came away with 7 bottles of wine as winners and race sponsors, some of which will be raffle prizes later. The current Mayor, John Bradshaw, had his final fundraising event here last weekend with a Grand National Day which was very well supported, and made a healthy sum for his two charaties. The new Mayor, Cllr Margaret Horabin, will be installed next month, and as I revealed last month, she has chosen us as one of her two charities for her mayoral year. In return, we need to support her as much as possible at her fundraising events.
I’m sure you will not disappoint.
Afternoon Club
Our 3rd birthday was celebrated with a free buffet, together with Paul Keenan, the Frank Ifield tribute singer. This month we have an Easter crafts afternoon, which will give you the opportunity to display your creative talents. Throw (not literally!) in a cup of tea and some biscuits, and a fun afternoon is guaranteed. Please support the Grangeway club, it is as much a part of our offer as our evenings at the stadium.
