NEWSLETTER JULY 2018
Welcome
Hello everyone, and welcome to the July meeting. Tonight is bingo night, so eyes down and good luck.
Blaise Cook
I regret to inform you that Blaise Cook passed away at home on the 28th of June surrounded by his family. He was a real gentleman, and had been a club member for many years. He will be sorely missed at our club meetings. We have passed our condolences and offers of support to Teresa and her family, and hope she will return to the club in time. Blaises funeral will take place on Tuesday 17th July, at St Edwards Church, Ivy Street, Runcorn at 2.15pm, then onto Walton Lea Crematorium at 3.40pm. Everyone is invited to Halton British Legion afterwards. Please attend and show your support if you can.
Summer Holiday
The holiday to Babbacombe was blessed with superb weather once again, and a great time was had by all. Next year heralds a change of venue for the first time in 15 years. We are still going to Devon, but the north coast, to a place called Croyde Bay. It is a 4 star hotel, with leisure facilities, and a nearby beach. Half board is £378, and we have a provisional reservation of 10 twin and 5 single rooms. If you want to join us, get your name down quick, as I have to book this week. Further details to follow.
Joyce Vaughan
I’m sure Joyce will be surprised to see her name here, but we couldn’t ignore the fact that this lovely lady turned 90 a couple of days ago, and is officially our oldest member. So Happy Birthday Joyce!
Day Trips
There has been very little support for our day trips so far this year for some reason. Either you don’t want to go on a coach trip, or the venue we choose is wrong. Either way it would be helpful if you could let us know, so we don’t waste any more of our time on organising them. This month we are offering a trip to Llandudno on the 20th. The coach leaves the stadium at 09.30 and the Red Admiral at 09.45, cost is £10.
21st Birthday Party
Next month we celebrate our 21st birthday with a party. Superb vocalist Nicole Jay will be entertaining us, and there will be a buffet. Please note that the fun starts at 7.30pm, so coach pick ups will be correspondingly early. We still aim to finish at 10pm as normal.
