NEWSLETTER APRIL 2018
Welcome
Hello everyone, and welcome to our April meeting. Tonight is quiz night, so get your thinking caps on, and put your phones away! Expensive, glittering trophy to the winners, held in the stocks and pelted with rotten tomatoes for the last placed team!
AGM
Many thanks to all our members who attended and participated in our AGM. I hope you all enjoyed the delicious steak pie and chips afterwards. We welcomed Mike Duncan onto the committee, and he has already attended his first committee meeting. Also Teresa Cook stepped up to Chair person, and Sandra Byrne has agreed to take over the vacant Vice Chair position. Sandra has had a hip operation, and is recovering well at home, so we wish her well, and look forward to seeing her back with us soon.
Summer Holiday
Just a reminder that the holiday must be paid in full at the next meeting. Please remember to bring your payment cards with you though, so you have a record of what you have paid.
Day Trips
After the weakly supported, proposed trip to Southport was cancelled, the first trip of the year, on Friday 27th April, is to Oswestry, a quaint market town the other side of Wrexham. The coach leaves the stadium at 09.15, and the Red Admiral at 09.30, the cost being £10 a head. Please give your names to Dianne with your payment. Please note the change of date, as it clashed with the Mayors final fundraising event. Unfortunately, I am still being bombarded with people giving me money, instead of putting it in the envelopes, which we have on our table, and writing your name, amount and reason on it. Sometimes it is very difficult to remember when I am given money directly, and then the monthly accounts won’t balance, which causes a lot of stress. Please help me to make my job easier.
Mayors Charity
Please put this date in your diary:
Friday 20th April
This is the last Mayors charity fundraising evening that Alan Lowe will be holding before he hands over the reins to Councillor John Bradshaw. It’s celebrating St Georges day, so let’s make it as big as St Patricks day by as many of us as possible coming along here to the stadium. We’ll meet at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. There is a traditional 3 course meal, and we have a fantastic female vocalist to entertain us. Tickets are £15 each, so please give your names and money to me tonight.
Also, I have tickets on sale tonight for a 50/50 draw, with a minimum prize of £400, to be drawn at the Widnes Vikings match on 27th April. They are £1 each.
Afternoon Club
This month we have Jimmy May to entertain us with his vocal talents. Also, as a thank you for your continued support for the club, we are having a free lunch at the Halton British Legion on Wednesday 16th May. This is open to ALL members. If you are coming then the meal is at 1pm, so please arrive slightly earlier. Give me your names together with a payment of £5. This will be reimbursed when you arrive. This is to prevent us from ordering meals, and then members not turning up

Thanks to you all for coming to support your club tonight. Don’t forget, we still have suggestions slips available for you to comment on what we are doing right or wrong, or to ask us to consider a new destination for a day trip, or a different activity on club nights. We want everyone to have a say on how the club is run, and these slips are there for that purpose so please use them. Have a good night.
Take Care
