NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 2018
Welcome
Hello everyone and welcome to our February meeting, and it’s Valentines night! We have a wonderful artist for you tonight, Suzi, who we welcome back to the club. So, sit back and enjoy her vocal talents.
Spring Break
The Esplanade Hotel in Llandudno has been booked for 20 members for the 2nd to 5th of March. I have paid in full as we are so close to the booking date, so please make sure you pay me your balances tonight or as soon as possible please. Luggage tags will be given out tonight. The coach leaves the stadium at 09.30 on the Friday and the Runcorn bus station at 09.45, calling again at Tweedmills on the way down.
Summer Holiday
The £500 non-returnable deposit has been sent to the hotel, so that’s it-we’re going! Once again, we have invited members of the Vision Support group in Runcorn to join us on holiday, so as I said last month it’s first come first served. Just a reminder that the holiday must be paid in full by the May meeting. The dates for your diary are 11th to 18th June at £350. Sea view rooms if you request them are extra.
Memberships
Membership renewals are due now. The cost is, as it always has been, just £15, which represents excellent value for money. Please see me with your subscriptions.
AGM
On the subject of memberships, can I remind everyone that it is the AGM next month, so if you want to attend, and enjoy our delicious buffet, you need to be a fully paid up member. We will be taking a register on the night, so if you haven’t renewed, you won’t be allowed to take part.
This year, as you can see on the notice, we have TWO vacancies, one for the Chairperson, due to Ernie Ratcliffes resignation, plus the vacancy open since last year. If you see yourself as the newest recruit, then please make sure that you can commit to attending ALL the committee and club meetings before you apply. We would also like you to support the clubs activities, be they the trips, charity fundraising nights and any external promotional events we commit to. The more you contribute, the more satisfying it becomes. If you think that you are the person we are looking for, and you have the ideas, energy and a willingness to get involved, get your application in to Dianne before the closing date of 28th February. If you need more information, then have a chat with any committee member. Come and join us and make a difference.
Afternoon Club
Disappointingly we only had 15 members attend the first meeting of the year, which is surprising considering we managed 45 for the FREE Christmas meal! The Grangeway has recently re-opened the café, so we have been moved to the big room next door. Consequently, the meeting will start 15 minutes later at 2.15pm. This month we are having a chair-based exercise session, but you’ll be glad to hear, not for the full two hours!

Thanks to you all for coming to support your club tonight. Don’t forget, we still have suggestions slips available for you to comment on what we are doing right or wrong, or to ask us to consider a new destination for a day trip, or a different activity on club nights. We want everyone to have a say on how the club is run, and these slips are there for that purpose so please use them. Have a good night.
Take Care
