It was on a damp, dreary and cold morning in November, that 20 members assembled for our annual pilgrimage to Llandudno for our Turkey and Tinsel mini break. The venue for our holiday was the Esplanade Hotel on the promenade, where we had stayed a couple of times previously, and had always been looked after incredibly well. A short stop at the Tweedmills outlet in St Asaph for a couple of hours meant that our rooms at the hotel were ready to be moved into on our arrival.
Our 3 night stay was very comfortable, and the food served was even better than previous years, especially the slow cooked lamb shanks! Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff, and we are quite demanding. Entertainment was laid on each evening, from local artistes, topped off with the obligatory game of bingo. Father Christmas even took time out of his busy schedule to pay us a visit on the Saturday evening.
The weather was kind to us too. Although bitterly cold and windy, we managed to stay dry, which was quite an achievement considering the previous few days weather.
So, it was quite a wrench to get back on the coach for the return journey on Monday morning, but we hope to come back again for another mini break sometime in the spring, when we can hopefully take a stroll along the prom without our waterproofs and wellies on.
