Last Month
The clubs 20th birthday party was a smash hit. The Mayor and Mayoress, Alan & Joan Lowe, helped us celebrate together with Ged Philbin and Ros Wong. It was also great to see Bob and Carole Bryant again. Dave Osbornes performance was, as usual, superb, and the buffet was excellent. I hope you all had a great time too.
Day Trip
Last month York benefitted from our presence for our annual visit. Although the weather was changeable, I think most managed to avoid the showers, and a good day was had by all. A special mention must be given to the youngsters who came along. They were not an ounce of trouble, and were a credit to their parents. We would have no hesitation in opening up future trips to any well behaved children aged 5 to 12.
Vintage Rally
As I said last month the Mayor is looking for items for the tombola we are supporting at Victoria Park on 23rd and 24th September. If you have brought anything in tonight then thank you. It would be nice to see as many of you as possible attending over the weekend.
Tonight
It’s quiz night again! 35 questions designed to test your grey matter. Anyone found Googling the answers will be punished severely. You have been warned! Glittering trophy to the winners, nowt to the losers, apart from “must try harder next time”.

Winners of the Quiz Night
Mayors Charity
The next event on the calendar is on Friday 15th September here at the stadium and is a race night. There are 8 races on the card, the club is sponsoring 2 of them, but we are looking for individual sponsors for horses in each race at £2 each. If your horse wins a race you will receive a bottle of wine as the sponsor. A form will be circulating tonight to name your horses. Please give generously.
The “C” word
No, not that one! Christmas! Next month we will be issuing raffle tickets again for the Christmas party. It would be really helpful if you could have them back to us at our November meeting please, but definitely before the party. Tickets will not be accepted on the night, we’ll be too busy doing everything else.
This month’s trip
On Friday 22nd we are visiting Port Sunlight village, followed by some retail therapy at Birkenhead market. The cost will be £12 which includes admission and a guided tour of the Port Sunlight museum. The coach leaves the stadium at 09.15 and the Red Admiral at 09.30, returning for 5.30pm (ish)
Turkey and Tinsel
The dates for your diary are 24th to 27th November. The savings club is available if you want to spread the cost.
Afternoon club
Anne Campbell, our vocal entertainer last month was really good and well received by our members. We will definitely be inviting her back at a later date to entertain us.
