Halton Mayor Alan Lowe and Joan Lowe with Chairman Ernie Ratcliffe and Secretary Dianne Ryder with Dave Osbourne (vocalist)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Tonight we are celebrating the club’s 20th birthday with the help of some of our friends and supporters. I’m sure that Bob and his small group of like-minded friends never imagined 20 years ago that we would be celebrating this milestone tonight, which is testament to their tenacity and can-do attitude. We are privileged to welcome Haltons Mayor and Mayoress, Cllrs Alan and Joan Lowe to the club. We hope they have a good night with us.
Party
We are fortunate to have enlisted Dave Osborne once again to entertain us tonight with his stunning vocals. We have a buffet served around 9pm, followed by the raffle before Dave comes back on to take us to the end of the very busy evening. We are looking to finish by 10.15pm.

Last Month
Disappointingly, we were forced to cancel last month’s trip due to a lack of numbers. Hopefully this month the trip to York will go ahead, it is usually well subscribed. It takes place on Friday 18th August, and will leave the Red Admiral at 09.15 and the stadium at 09.30. As York is a couple of hours away, we propose to leave there at 6.30pm, to ensure we have enough time in the city. The cost is £15 each.
NEW!
As a result of a request from a member, we are now opening up our coach trips to well behaved children aged between 5 and 12. So now, if you are prevented from coming on one of our trips because you are minding your grandkids, bring them along with you for a great day out. The cost will be half the adult fare, in this case £7.50 each.
Turkey and Tinsel
Hopefully, everyone who put their name down for this years Turkey & Tinsel will have brought in their £50 deposits. I have managed to get a reduction on the rate, which is now £185 each. The date for your diary is 24th to 27th November.
Vintage Rally
As I said last month the Mayor is looking for items for the tombola we are supporting at Victoria Park on 23rd and 24th September. If you have brought anything in tonight then thank you. If not, don’t worry we can accept them next month too.
Afternoon Club
The chair-based exercise session was a great success and brilliant fun. It’s certainly something that we would be looking to repeat sometime.

Suggestions Slips
We got some great feedback from the suggestions slips last month, so thank you. Ideas included visits to comedies/musicals at The Brindley, Bury market, Bolton market, Llangollen, Garstang, Oswestry and canal cruises, so plenty of food for thought there.
Thanks to you all for coming to support your club tonight. We hope you all have a great night.
