SUMMER HOLIDAY

Our annual pilgrimage to Babbacombe was universally acknowledged to be a raging success, despite the glorious weather I had pre-booked not arriving. Day trips to Teignmouth, Buckfast Abbey, Plymouth, Tavistock, Sidmouth and our old favourite, Dartmouth were organised, and cream teas and ice creams were duly consumed. Even more renovations had been completed at the hotel and a new buffet, all you can eat breakfast had been introduced which was a massive improvement. Evening meals still left a bit to be desired, but hopefully that will be improved before our next visit. Mike, our driver was brilliant as usual, even though his jokes showed maximum groan value. We have provisionally booked for next year, more details to follow.

DAY TRIP
This month’s trip is to York on Friday 22nd. The coach will leave the Red Admiral at 09.15, and the stadium at 09.30. As York is a couple of hours drive away, we won’t be leaving until at least 6pm for the return journey. The cost is £15 per person.

TURKEY & TINSEL
I need to get some feedback from members who would like to come with us to Llandudno for a holiday in November. Once again we are staying at the Esplanade Hotel, from Friday 25th to Monday 28th November, which is 3 nights and the cost is £200 per person. I believe that Father Christmas has agreed to take a break from work to come and visit us again!

GARDEN PARTY
I will remind you again nearer the time, but Sandra Byrne has offered to host a garden party in aid of club funds on Saturday 13th August, at 1pm. Admission is £2.50 per person, which entitles you to a free drink and a cake. There will be additional food and drink for sale, and we will have party games and other fundraising activities throughout the afternoon. Bring your friends and family along. Children are welcome too.

SUMMER HOLIDAY 2017
I have provisionally booked the Babbacombe Hotel once again for our summer holiday. Take note that the dates are MONDAY 12th June to MONDAY 19th June, which is 7 nights. The cost will be £350 per person. Sea view rooms are an extra £70 per room per week, but are NOT available for single rooms. Again I will be operating a savings scheme to help spread the cost, if anyone would like to take advantage. Please indicate who would like to go, so I can make arrangements with the hotel to allocate rooms for all of us.

MAYORS CHARITY
As I said last month, we have been chosen by the Mayor as one of his two charities this year. The first fundraising evening was last Friday night here at the stadium. I’m sure that each of the 18 people who came along had a great night. The food was exceptional, and the band was good, if a little loud! The next one is at the beginning of September, and is a 70’s night (fancy dress optional) so I will be asking next month who would like to join us for another great night.

Thanks for coming tonight and supporting your club. If you aren’t coming to York with us then we look forward to seeing you all next month.
