Hello everyone and welcome to our February club night. As promised last month, Teresa has compiled a quiz to test your grey matter. Good luck everyone, and remember, no cheating! Not that anybody would.
We have finally provisionally booked a venue for the club. It will be held at the Grangeway Community Centre, Runcorn on the third Wednesday of the month, starting in March, between 2pm and 4pm. We will organise activities every meeting, just tell us what you want to do. Refreshments will be available from the cafe. I do hope that as many of you as possible will support this new venture for the club, and make it as successful as the evening meetings. Don’t forget to tell your friends, better still, bring them along!
The £500 non-returnable deposit has been sent to the hotel, so that’s it-we’re going! Since we could only raise interest from 23 members, we have decided to invite members of the Vision Support club in Runcorn to join us on holiday, which has boosted our numbers to 38 currently, and they have all paid their deposits. Both Betty and Sylvia have attended their group for several years now, and can vouch for them. I have met them too and they are a nice bunch of people, looking forward to a great holiday. They won’t be disappointed! Just a reminder, that the holiday must be paid in full by the May meeting.
As I said in last months’ newsletter, this is a make or break year for the caravan. If we don’t come close to breaking even, then we will have no option but to dispose of it, probably for a fraction of the price we paid 3 years ago. This is not what we want to do obviously, but it is a big drain on our funds, and it isn’t sustainable. So, if anyone has any suggestions as to how we increase its use, then please let us know.
We have had a suggestion of the Manchester Museum of Science & Industry for a trip on Friday 26th February. If we have sufficient interest, then I will gladly arrange it.
Friday March 18th : Shrewsbury
Thursday April 28th : Llandudno
Friday May 27th: Haydock Park Races

Membership renewals are due now. The cost is, as it always has been, just £15, which represents excellent value for money. Please see Barry Heap with your subscriptions.
On the subject of memberships, can I remind everyone that it is the AGM next month, so if you want to attend, and enjoy our delicious buffet, you need to be a fully paid up member. We will be taking a register on the night, so if you haven’t renewed, you won’t be allowed to take part.
This year, as you can see on the notice, we have ONE vacancy on the committee, due to John Jackson retiring. We would like to thank John for his massive help and support over the years. If you see yourself as the newest recruit, then please make sure that you can commit to attending ALL the committee and club meetings before you apply. We would also like you to support the clubs activities, be they the trips, charity fundraising nights and any external promotional events we commit to. The more you contribute, the more satisfying it becomes. If you think that you are the person we are looking for, and you have the ideas, energy and a willingness to get involved, get your application in to Dianne before the closing date. If you need more information, then have a chat with any committee member. Come and join us, and make a difference.
Thanks for coming tonight, and supporting your club. Come and join us on the first trip of the year to Manchester. Failing that we’ll see you all next month at the AGM.
