NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2015

Welcome

Hi everyone, and thanks for coming on what promised to be a busy night. We welcomed Kerry Grimes from Halton Borough Council, to give us a short talk on an important subject: Bowel Cancer.

Please give her your undivided attention.

Last Meeting

Our race night was well received and great fun. Due to illness, numbers were down on the night, but there was still plenty of support for each race, and hopefully nobody lost their shirt.

Tonights Entertainment

The Irish Guards Singers have agreed to sing for us tonight, so we can all look forward to a feast of singalong favourites.

Turkey and Tinsel

I will be giving out luggage tags tonight, but please note that room numbers will not be allocated until our arrival at the hotel. The coach leaves the stadium at 09.15, and the Red Admiral at 09.30 on Monday 30th November.  We intend to call in at the Tweedmills for a couple of hours on the way down as  our rooms won’t be available until 2pm.

Day Out

As previously advertised, we intend to visit Boundary Mill at Colne on Thursday 26th November. The cost is £10 a head and as usual we need a minimum of 30 members, friends and family to ensure it goes ahead. The coach will leave the Red Admiral at 09.15 and the Halton stadium at 09.30. Please do not make any prior arrangements as to what time we will be returning, as we only decide that on the day by consulting the members present.

Afternoon Club

The committee are still investigating the feasibility of starting an afternoon club in Runcorn in the New Year. If you have any ideas for venues or of activities you would like to take part in, then remember we always have the suggestion box available to convey your thoughts

Club Caravan

The first available date for next year is w/c 19th March.  You will note that this is a SATURDAY.  All bookings for next year commence on the Saturday.  The revised prices will be published in the New Year.

Christmas Draw Tickets

I hope you have all sold the draw tickets allocated to you last month, and have the stubs and money with you.  If not, then please hand them or deliver them to any committee member BEFORE the party. Alternatively you can post them to me at:

3 Holborn Court,

Widnes,

WA8 9UG

PLEASE DO NOT ENCLOSE CASH, CHEQUES ONLY

Christmas Party

Tickets for our Christmas party are on sale tonight, priced at £12.50 a head. Admission will be by ticket only. As always, it will be a great night, with good food and entertainment, in the company of friends. We urge as many people as possible to support the party which is on Wednesday 9th of December. Meeting at 7.30pm for an 8pm start, we are hoping to finish at 11pm.

Hampers

Once again, we will be accepting food and drink items for our Christmas hampers tonight.  These will be gifted to less fortunate members of our community, to make a difference to their Christmas. If you wish to contribute, but haven’t brought your donation tonight, ring any committee member asap, and they will arrange collection.

Secret Santa

As a welcome change at Christmas, we are going to introduce a “Secret Santa”.  Members who would like to participate (and I hope it’s the majority of you) can give their names to

Teresa Cook please. Presents should have a value of around £5.

Membership Incentive

In the New Year an incentive scheme will start where you will be invited to introduce new members to the club and be paid £5 as a thank you, after they have joined and attended 3 times.  They don’t need to be stroke people, but if they aren’t, then they will be classed as Associate Members. A prize will be given to the person who introduces the most new members at the end of the year.

Jean Riley

I have to report that Jean passed away on the 31st October in Halton Haven.  She might have only been a member of our club for a few short months, but she made a big impact on those people who enjoyed her company, and will be sorely missed. She had just celebrated her golden wedding anniversary last month.  Her funeral took place last Monday, where the club was well represented.

Thanks to you all for coming to support your club tonight.  Have a good night, and to those lucky enough to be holidaying in Llandudno at the end of the month

Have a fantastic time!
