Welcome
Hi everyone, and thanks for coming to our race night. Once again, Steve Lever has worked hard to put it on for us, so big thanks to him, and I hope you all have a good night. With a bit of luck you may make a few bob! Due to time constraints, there will not be a raffle tonight.
Vintage Rally
The club had a tombola stall at the rally at Victoria Park last month, and it was a great success. We had new brochures printed before the event, and we gave a lot out to interested people who attended, raising the club’s profile. We also raised over £300 for club funds. Jeanette Potter correctly guessed the name of our rocking horse and won it. She was later on seen riding it through Widnes! Many thanks are due to anybody who helped with the organisation or over the weekend, and I’m not going to name you all, you know who you are.
Turkey and Tinsel
A reminder that the balance for the holiday must be paid tonight as stated at the last meeting
Day Out
As previously advertised, we intend to visit Liverpool on Friday 23rd October. Places to visit include the Albert Dock, the Museum of Liverpool Life, or if you need retail therapy then Liverpool One is nearby. The cost is £10 a head and as usual we need a minimum of 30 members, friends and family to ensure it goes ahead. The coach will leave the Red Admiral at 09.15 and the Halton stadium at 09.30. Please do not make any prior arrangements as to what time we will be returning, as we only decide that on the day by consulting the members present.
Llandudno Trip
There was a disappointing turnout for last month’s trip to Llandudno, with only 25 attendees. We can’t fathom out a reason for this, but it’s safe to say that no trips will go ahead if we don’t reach the minimum number of 30 in the future. The club cannot continue to subsidise coach trips to such an extent indefinitely.
Afternoon Club
The committee are considering starting an afternoon club in Runcorn in the New Year. Nothing is certain at the moment, but it could be held at the Grangeway on a Tuesday or Wednesday, once a month to begin with. We are seeking funding from various bodies to help us realise our ambition. We will canvas your opinions to see if it is a viable option.
Club Caravan
We will be shutting down for the winter on the 14th of November. If you are looking to book a week, then get your order in quickly. It reopens next year on 14th March.
Savings Club
There is still the opportunity to take advantage of our savings club to help budget for future holidays. Please see me to make a deposit.
Christmas Draw Tickets
These will be issued tonight to all members present, and we would like them sold and returned at the next meeting please. Alternatively, you can pop the stubs in the post to me or any committee member with a cheque. NO CASH PLEASE. Remember that they are £1 a ticket this year in books of 10. Please don’t bring them to the Christmas party, we will be too busy to deal with them.
Christmas Party
We will be selling tickets for our Christmas party at the next meeting. The cost will be £12.50 a head. Admission will be by ticket only, and as next month’s meeting is the last before Christmas, can I ask that you bring the money to pay for them please. As always, it will be a great night, with good food and entertainment, in the company of friends. We urge as many people as possible to support the party which is on Wednesday 9th of December. Meeting at 7.30pm for an 8pm start, we are hoping to finish at 11pm.
Hampers
Once again, we will be accepting food and drink items for our Christmas hampers at the next meeting. These will be gifted to less fortunate members of our community, to make a difference to their Christmas, so dig deep please, and let’s see how many we can fill.
Secret Santa
As a welcome change at Christmas, we are going to introduce a “Secret Santa”. Members who would like to participate (and I hope it’s the majority of you) can give their names to Teresa Cook please. Presents should have a value of around £5.

Membership Incentive
In the New Year an incentive scheme will start where you will be invited to introduce new members to the club and be paid £5 as a thank you, after they have joined and attended 3 times. They don’t need to be stroke people. A prize will be given to the person who introduces the most new members at the end of the year.
Thanks to you all for coming to support your club tonight. Have a good night, and if we don’t see you on the Liverpool trip, we’ll see you next month.
P.S. Don’t forget to bring your draw tickets, hamper items and money for your Christmas party tickets.
